Looking at Lincoln by Maira Kalman

Kalman, Maira. Looking at Lincoln. New York: Nancy Paulsen Books, 2012. 32p.

This book provides a brief introduction to Abraham Lincoln's life and legacy and will serve as an excellent curiosity-builder for kids who will want to research more. Older students who are fans of the book should then read Who Was Abraham Lincoln? by Janet Pascal, an outstanding chapter book for continued reading. Note: When reading this book to young students, you may decide to skip a few of the pages (ones that discuss the casualties of war and Lincoln's assassination) based on your class.
