Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Palacio, R.J.  Wonder. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2012. 315p.

Auggie, a ten-year-old boy, struggles to fit in at his new school after being home-schooled for years. While Auggie and his family are used to Auggie's facial abnormalities that have led to twenty-seven surgeries since birth, many of his classmates do not treat him as the "regular" kid he is, a kid who has interests, feelings, talents, and a big heart.

This moving, powerful book is written from various characters' perspectives and will have a lasting impact on its readers. Readers will learn how to be open-minded and open-hearted while flying through the pages and rooting for many of the characters as they develop over time. A best-selling book, this is also the best book I have read in the past ten years!
