Nightsong by Ari Berk

Berk, Ari. Nightsong. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2012. 48p.

Chiro, a young bat, learns from his mother how to use his "good sense," then explores the world independently for the first time. He returns home to his mother's open wings and is excited to report his success. This magnificently-illustrated book will be a welcome comfort to anyone who has ever been scared to leave home or to try something new. It would pair well with nonfiction books on bats and echolocation.
