Gill, Bob. The Present. San Francisco: Chronicle Books, 2010. 32p.
A boy named Arthur notices a beautifully-wrapped present on the top shelf of his dad's closet. Arthur assumes that the present is for his upcoming birthday and often returns to the closet to check on the present while imagining all of the different things it could be. When he hears his mom talking to a women who's collecting toys for children in need, however, Arthur makes an important, generous decision the day before his birthday.
This brief but significant book is an excellent starting point for character education discussions!
