Author and illustrator Mo Willems has created an engaging picture book in the format of an old-time silent movie. A fox, missing one last ingredient for his soup, stumbles upon a duck and attempts to lure her back to his cave for dinner. Throughout the story, a litter of chickens pops up to warn that it "is not a good idea." In an unexpected ending to the story, readers realize that the chicks were actually warning the wolf the entire time! This will be a welcome read-aloud for students that actively engages participation from the audience. It could also be used in addition to units on making predictions or units involving stories centered around "trickery."
