The Princess and the Peanut Allergy by Wendy McClure

McClure, Wendy. The Princess and the Peanut Allergy. Chicago: Albert Whitman & Company. 2009. 32p.

Regina can't wait for her birthday party, especially her beautiful castle cake made out of brownie bricks.  She excitedly shares the details of all of the fabulous food she has planned with her best friend Paula. When Paula tells her she cannot eat any of the cake because of her peanut allergy, Regina questions why her friend wouldn't just pick the peanuts out.  A fight ensues and Regina ends up uninviting her best friend.  After listening to the Princess and the Pea, she has a change of heart and has a new cake made that will not have peanuts.  A simple read aloud for classrooms with a peanut allergy.
