Going Places by Peter and Paul Reynolds

Reyolds, Peter and Paul. Going Places. New York: Atheneum Books, 2014. 48p.

Dedicated to "all the great thinkers who have gone above and beyond" and the authors' tenth-grade social studies teacher, "who dared [them] to have original ideas," this book is a tribute to creativity!

The story begins with Rafael, whose teacher has given all students a standard kit that will enable them to build go-carts for the school's "Going Places" contest. Rafael really wants to win the contest and begins building a go-cart exactly according to the kit's directions. Soon, however, he is inspired by his neighbor, Maya, who has begun building a unique contraption of her own!
